That Extra Hour

So what did you do with your extra hour today? Just before I fell asleep last night I made some plans for how to spend mine.

I fully intended to get up when my body clock said it was 0430, despite the numbers displayed on the bedside digital.

Maybe I'd spend the hour practicing today's hymn on the piano. Lord knows I can use it.

Maybe I'd go out early and pick up the inevitable candy wrappers in the yard. And I definitely needed to hang the November wreath on the door.

Or maybe I'd just stay in bed, kick KTT to the other side of the comforter so I could stretch out my legs, then meditate, and pray.

Did none of those. Grabbed a cuppa and came upstairs to the computer. Yep, my email addiction won out.

Inbox showed 15. Deleted the one from UH, because having listened to it with heart in mouth, I already knew the score for yesterday's game. Deleted the one from the History Channel because I'm not in the market right now for DVDs. Without hesitation moved to the spam directory the one with the subject "Beloved In Christ."

And then scanned the senders of the other 12. The first one I actually opened included a link. Followed it to find awesome creativity, deeply moving words of inspiration, and much needed motivation. I am shamed by my own daily drivel and meager attempts to describe life. It was without doubt the best hour I have spent in a long, long time.
