frosh football

And so the 2009 football season for the Martin Warrior Frosh is over. We had games cancelled due to lightning, games that were not cancelled even though the entire hour was played in the rain, fields so muddy nobody could hold onto the ball, wind so strong it knocked the ball off the kickoff tee, a couple of losses, a majority of wins, some completely happy players, some not so happy but promising to work on it, missed tackles that resulted in a score by the other guys, interceptions that set up scores by our guys, kickoff runbacks, recovered fumbles, quarterback sacks, highlights and lowlights.

Many thanks to the Arlington PD, whose presence was not only comforting but also personable. Their smiles after a win were just as big as those on the faces of the parents and grandparents who crowded the stands for every game. And we all stood at the gate and applauded as our young men came off the gridiron, no matter the score.

Didn't see a single penalty due to violent behavior or un-sportsman-like conduct. And most important, nobody got hurt. Grandson called it "Thursday Night Lights." I'd call it a pretty good season. Ya done good, guys. I’m proud of you all.
