serves me right

Got up this morning, grabbed a cup of wake-up, and came upstairs to check the email.

Minutes later heard the most awful crash, then KTT came streaking upstairs and retreated under the desk, cowering at my feet.

When he moves that fast, it bodes no good.

I have a table runner in cheery red, gold, green, blue, and white plaid that goes well with both Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations. It has been on the library table in the living room for several weeks now. But for some reason, one of the gold tassels on the edge had come untucked and was obviously hanging down.

In plain sight of KTT.

Who decided it was meant specifically for him. Oh, joy, a new toy!!

And so everything that had been on the table was suddenly and in one fell swipe in disarray on the living room rug. Books open and upside down, candles strewn about, brass bells laying haphazardly next to nail clippers, and liquid potpourri dripping dripping dripping from the crystal bowl that rolled in slow motion on its side.

Well, I guess it serves me right.

There are three rules in life.

Never do anything in private you'll have to explain in public.

Never write anything you wouldn't want to see published in the Dallas News.

And never tempt a cat with a gold tassel.
