weekend notes

While not quite "as high as a elephant's eye" the clover in the backyard looks like we've never had a winter at all around here. I need my bunny to come a'croppin, but haven't seen her for quite some time. For all I know she went to Oklahoma. If you see her, please send her home.

On Monday a young gentleman rang our bell and told Jim he was selling steaks. Two days later Jim answered the door to find a young man who said he was taking donations for the Red Oak High School Band. Friday it was Aid to Haiti. Said no thank you to all three. We don't question the spirit of entrepreneurship, nor the validity of the causes, but we do question how it is that every time, it was the same guy. We also found it strange that he seems to be totally on his own, with no support vehicle, and neither product nor paperwork in hand. Stay tuned.

And, finally, kudos to Kevin Bacon who won both Globe and SAG awards for his role in "Taking Chance." Told you guys from the beginning, it's a good one, and well worth your time. Probably won't see the Academy taking notice, but it’s nice to know that the people who really matter did.

Semper Fi, y'all.
